End of Season Message!

Another season and... wait... are you kidding me?

 

I have to tell everyone that I am having the most difficult time brining myself to write this end of season message.  I now believe that pigs do fly!  Yes, the bizarre has happened, Mary Ann has won the FootballWizards pool for the second year in a row, and this time she is the sole winner,  Congratulations Mary Ann!!!  After the awesome start that my daughter Rachel had by leading the league for several weeks, winning or tying many of them, and being up in the top spots for the entire season, I found myself starting to pull for her.  I am very proud of both Rachel and Julia, they did all of their picks and research on their own.  Rachel had a fantastic season with a very strong second place finish just 4 games back.  All I can tell you is there was a whole lot of trash talking going on between Mary Ann and Rachel this season.  Way to go Rachel, nice job!  Also, coming on very strong in the end was Tony, tying Rachel in second place.  All I have to say is where did you come from, nice finish!  I guess you decided it was time to get back in the top of the pack.  If you would have started your charge a week or two sooner, you might have been challenging Mary Ann for the top spot!

  As for the rest of the pack there were several battles going on as the group really started to separate into smaller battles.  I found myself chasing Dan for most of the season.  Dan was rock solid all season long.  I think he went with the motto "win big or go home".  Up until the last couple of weeks I didn't think I could pass him, and that he might move up the standings even further.  I think the difference in the end were a few bold picks that unfortunately didn't go his way.  Anyway I respect that he gave it a shot and still had one of his best seasons,  which was not indicative of his 5th place finish, still up 3 spots from last season!  Hmmm, what happened to Uggs???  Oh, there he is back in 6th place???  For someone who seems to always be at the top, I guess your allowed to have an off season once in a while.  Look at the bright side, at least you weren't in the same house as Mary Ann and didn't have to listen to her asking everyone if they needed her to help them with their picks each week, or telling everyone how lonely it is at the top.  Arghhhh...

 It seemed like Julia, Matthew and Ray were all hooked up in their own battle.   Julia had a very nice year finishing in 7th position, passing Ray in the late stages and hanging on for a nice improvement from her 11th place finish last season!  Matthew seemed to follow dads footsteps with a drop from 5th last year to a tie for 8th this season.  Again, we'll cut you a little slack this year, I'm sure you will rebound back to the top next season, hopefully higher than dad!  Ray gets the consistency award, although maybe not for the reasons he'd like :-o  Seriously, Ray's been a real trouper with the league for so long now, there's only one place left to go -- to the top!  I would echo the same sentiments for Ralph and Marla, with Ralph just barely squeaking out a win over Marla this year (BTW Ralph, Ray beat you again!).  I know Marla can run up near the top, as shes done it several times in the past.  I think its time to return to that old form again next year and make Ralph have to work for it if he wants to place higher!
